An-Najah National University – Coordinator of MED-HEALTH Erasmus+ Project and University of Navarra (Host University) organized a Study Visit in UPNA , the participants from different institutions: An-Najah National University – Palestine, Mutah and Zarqa University – Jordan, University of Manouba, University of Monastir – Tunisia , participants and lecturers from the University of Navarra , and the associated partners: Palestinian Medical Relief Society – Palestine, Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network – Jordan ” project consortium”, were participated in this study visit in UPNA on 8th – 10th March 2017 with the objective to be introduced into different aspects of curricula development and teaching materials for the master programme in public health management, incl., ECTS allocation and implementation; learning objectives; modularisation; students’ mobility and recognition of degrees & qualifications; procedures for establishment of joint (degree) programmes.
On the part of the UPNA, three teachers of the Department of Health Sciences participate in the project: professor Francisco Guillén Grima, director of the Master in Public Health; and the teachers María Rosario Orzanco Garralda and Raquel Sáenz Mendía. In addition, Susana Irisarri, Manager of Development Cooperation of the Internationalization Section.
There were a fruitful guided tour in the campus of Navarra University aiming at exchange of knowledge and cultures , a visit to Primary Care Health Center , and Clínica Universidad de Navarra .
The partners work to implement a Masters in Public Health Management in the six partner Universities of the southern Mediterranean, with the requirements of the European Higher Education , with the idea of preparing highly qualified professionals , the five course courses for the programme are :Essential Issues in Public Health Policy , Strategic Management and Commissioning , Health Services Management , Health, Culture and Society , Contextual factors and Health information systems . The partners agreed to add new core course : ‘Health Economics and Financing’.
In addition, they plan to develop a portal on public health management, which will become a reference for many of these Universities and their students of the mentioned master’s degree as well as for researchers and professionals. Finally, the partners work to create a network on public health management at the regional level in order to harmonize practices, generate debate and ensure the continuity of the results of the project to benefit the citizens of the South Mediterranean, so that it becomes a model For other arab countries and their Universities.
The third meeting of the project took place at UPNA, following the regional workshop will be held in Amman (Jordan) by the end of March 2017.
